Onboarding

xtra audio guides new users through a structured setup process. The onboarding consists of two phases: account setup and a step-by-step getting started guide.

Account Setup

New projects start with a three-step wizard.

1. Create Project

Enter a project name and optionally upload an avatar. The project serves as the top-level container for stations, media, and team members.

2. Billing Address

Provide a billing address. Business customers can enter a VAT ID for tax-exempt billing within the EU.

3. Payment Method

Add a payment method. Supported options:

  • Credit or debit card
  • PayPal

No charges are made during this step. Billing starts when the first station is activated.

Getting Started Guide

After account setup, a floating progress card appears in the bottom-left corner. It tracks eight steps that cover the core workflow from station creation to live broadcasting.

Steps

StepActionDescription
1Create a stationSet up the first station with name and plan selection
2Upload mediaAdd at least 10 audio files to the media library
3Create a playlistOrganize uploaded media into a playlist
4Create a sequenceBuild a planner sequence that references the playlist
5Schedule the sequenceAssign the sequence to time slots in the week planner
6Generate a rotationGenerate the rotation playlist from the scheduled sequence
7Start the stationPower on the station to begin automated playback
8Explore the studioOpen the live studio to see real-time playback

Steps complete automatically as each action is performed. The progress bar updates in real-time.

Step Dependencies

Some steps require previous steps to be completed first. The station cannot be created until billing setup is finished. Each subsequent step builds on the previous one in the recommended workflow order.

Dismissing the Guide

The onboarding card can be dismissed at any time by clicking the skip button. Once dismissed, the guide does not reappear. All platform features remain fully accessible regardless of onboarding completion.

After Onboarding

With all eight steps completed, the core workflow is in place:

  • Media is uploaded and organized in playlists
  • A sequence defines the playback rules
  • The week planner schedules when each sequence runs
  • Rotations are generated and the station plays automatically
  • The studio provides real-time control over playback

Each of these components can be refined independently. See the respective sections in the user guide for detailed documentation.

For questions during setup, use the live chat in the bottom-right corner of the application.
