Media Types and Fields

Media types categorize audio content. Custom fields extend metadata with project-specific information.

Media Types

Overview

Each media file has exactly one media type. Media types are required during upload and determine how files are used in scheduling.

Media types enable:

  • Visual identification: Color-coded badges in the library
  • Filtering: Show only files of a specific type
  • Scheduling rules: Rotations select files by media type

Creating Media Types

  1. Navigate to Project → Settings → Media Types
  2. Click Add Media Type
  3. Enter a name (e.g., "Music", "Jingle")
  4. Select a color for the badge
  5. Click Save

The new type appears in upload and filter dropdowns.

Editing Media Types

  1. Navigate to Project → Settings → Media Types
  2. Click the type to edit
  3. Modify the name or color
  4. Click Save

Changes apply to all files with this type. Existing files are not affected otherwise.

Deleting Media Types

Media types can only be deleted if no files are assigned to them.

  1. Navigate to Project → Settings → Media Types
  2. Click the delete icon next to the type
  3. Confirm the deletion

If files are assigned, reassign them to another type first.

Custom Fields

Overview

Custom fields extend the standard metadata with project-specific information. Use them for:

  • Additional categorization beyond media types
  • Business data (client, campaign, contract)
  • Technical notes (mixing instructions, restrictions)

Fields appear in the detail view, upload interface, and can be used for filtering.

NumberNumeric values150, 2.5, -10

Creating Fields

  1. Navigate to Project → Settings → Custom Fields
  2. Click Add Field
  3. Enter a field name
  4. Select the field type
  5. For Select fields, enter the available options
  6. Click Save

The field appears in the upload interface and detail view.

Editing Fields

  1. Navigate to Project → Settings → Custom Fields
  2. Click the field to edit
  3. Modify the name or options

Note: The field type cannot be changed after creation. Create a new field if a different type is needed.

For Select fields, adding new options does not affect existing values. Removing an option clears that value from files using it.

Assigning Field Values

Assign values during upload or in the media library:

During upload:

  1. Select a file in the upload interface
  2. Fill in custom field values in the right panel
  3. Values are saved when upload completes

In the media library:

  1. Select a file to open the detail view
  2. Click Edit
  3. Fill in or modify custom field values
  4. Click Save

Deleting Fields

  1. Navigate to Project → Settings → Custom Fields
  2. Click the delete icon next to the field
  3. Confirm the deletion

Deleting a field removes all stored values from media files. This action cannot be undone.
