Mixing

The Session Editor provides mixing tools to control volume dynamics and define transition points between audio elements.

Volume Automation

Volume automation uses envelope curves to change volume over time. Each track supports two envelope modes:

ModeDescription
ManualAdd and move envelope points by hand
DuckingEnvelope points are calculated automatically based on ducking rules

Creating Automation Points (Manual Mode)

  1. Click on the automation lane below a track to add a point
  2. Drag points to adjust timing (horizontal) and level (vertical)
  3. Add multiple points to create complex curves

Start and end points are locked horizontally (they can only move vertically).

Ducking

Ducking automatically reduces the volume of a track when other audio (voice, jingles) is active. The track with ducking configured is the one whose volume gets reduced — it "ducks" when target tracks play.

Ducking Configuration

ParameterDescription
ModeSimple (duck entire overlap) or Smart (audio-analyzed active regions)
Amount ModeFixed (constant reduction) or Relative (proportional to peak level)
ThresholddB level above which audio is considered active (Smart mode)
AmountVolume reduction factor
RatioReduction ratio (Relative mode)
FloorMinimum volume level (Relative mode)
Attack TimeHow quickly ducking engages
Release TimeHow quickly volume recovers

Ducking Targets

A track can duck to:

  • Specific tracks by ID
  • All tracks of a specific media type
  • All tracks in the session

Tracks that are currently recording are excluded from ducking calculations.

Mixer

The session editor includes a mixer panel with:

  • Per-track faders: Volume control for each track
  • Per-track peak meters: Left/right channel levels
  • Master channel: Combined output peak meter

Mix Points

In rotation sessions, the mix point determines when the outro track begins playing. The outro track position on the timeline defines the mix point.

Saving Sessions

Save Process

  1. Click Save in the toolbar (or press Ctrl+S in standalone view)
  2. Recorded voice tracks upload to the server
  3. Rotation sessions link to their rotation item

What Gets Saved

  • Track positions and arrangement
  • Cue points and crop regions
  • Volume levels and automation
  • Ducking configuration
  • Mix point data
  • Recorded audio files

INFO

Sessions do not export to audio files. The arrangement plays live in the Studio, allowing real-time playback and further adjustments.
