Release Channel
The release channel controls which version of the playout engine runs on the station.
| Channel | Description |
|---|---|
| Stable | Production-ready releases. Recommended for live broadcasting. |
| Beta | Pre-release features. Suitable for testing before going live. |
| Alpha | Early development builds. May contain experimental features and bugs. |
Changing the release channel triggers a station restart. The currently deployed version is displayed below the selector when the station is running.
Maintenance Window
The maintenance window defines a time period during which the station can be restarted for updates and maintenance. Restarts are grouped within this window to minimize disruption.
- Navigate to the project settings (maintenance windows are configured at the project level).
- Enable the maintenance window toggle.
- Set the preferred start time (full hours only, in the project timezone).
Pending maintenance operations accumulate and execute together during the next maintenance window. A notification appears on the station dashboard when maintenance is scheduled.
Playout Settings
Preload Time
The preload time determines how far in advance the next track is buffered. A higher preload time ensures smoother transitions but increases memory usage.
Mixer Channels
Configure the number of mixer channels available in the studio. The default is 3 channels. The maximum depends on the station plan.
Gap Killer
The gap killer removes silence at the beginning and end of audio files during playback.
| Setting | Description |
|---|---|
| Enabled | Toggle gap detection on or off |
| Start Threshold | Silence detection level at the start of a track (in dB) |
| End Threshold | Silence detection level at the end of a track (in dB) |
When combined with EBU R128 normalization, the gap killer uses loudness-based detection for more accurate results.
Station Type
Each station has a type that determines its capabilities:
| Type | Description |
|---|---|
| Station | Full-featured broadcasting station with planner, studio, and streaming |
| Stage | Preview environment for testing configurations before going live |
| Relay | Restreams an external audio source without local playout |
