Triggers
Triggers are audio signals inserted into the broadcast stream. External advertising automation systems detect these signals to schedule ad content at defined points.
How Triggers Work
A trigger generates a tone with a specific frequency and duration. When the playout system reaches a trigger in the schedule, it plays the configured tone signal. External ad systems monitoring the stream detect this tone and insert the appropriate ad content.

Using Triggers
Triggers can be used in three contexts:
| Context | Description |
|---|---|
| Sequences | Add a Trigger action and select the trigger from the dropdown |
| Rotations | Insert trigger items directly into rotation entries |
| Studio Playlist | Queue trigger items during live broadcasting |
In sequences, timing (Normal, Hard Fixed, Soft Fixed, Backtimed) is configured on the sequence entry, not on the trigger action itself.
