Timeline & Tracks

The Session Editor uses a horizontal timeline where audio tracks are arranged and edited. Each track occupies a row and can contain one or more audio clips.

Editing Modes

The toolbar provides four editing modes:

DragMove clips by clicking and dragging (default)
SelectMarquee selection of multiple clips
CutSplit clips at the cursor position
SlipShift audio content within a clip without moving the clip boundaries

Track Editing

Moving Clips

Click and drag a clip to reposition it on the timeline. Clips snap to the edges of other clips and to the playhead position.

Cropping

Drag the crop handles at the left or right edge of a clip to trim the visible region. Cropping is non-destructive — the original audio remains available.

Multi-Clip Support

Each track row can contain multiple audio clips (created by cutting). Clips on the same row play sequentially and cannot overlap. To layer audio, place clips on separate track rows.

Selection

  • Click: Select a single clip
  • Shift+Click: Range select
  • Ctrl/Cmd+Click: Toggle individual clip selection
  • Marquee (Select Mode): Draw a rectangle to select multiple clips

Zoom and Navigation

Horizontal Zoom

Adjust the pixels-per-second ratio to zoom in or out. Higher values show more detail.

Vertical Zoom

Change the track height via the slider in the toolbar (range: 64px to 256px).

Timeline Navigation

  • Scroll horizontally to move through the timeline
  • Click on the timeline ruler to move the playhead
  • Arrow keys seek left or right (step size scales with zoom level)

Loop Region

Double-click and drag on the timeline ruler to create a loop region. Press L to toggle looping. Press Escape to clear the loop region.

Context Menu

Right-click on clips for Undo, Redo, Copy, Cut, and Paste options.
