Playback Modes

The Studio supports three playback modes that control how tracks advance during broadcast. Select the mode that matches your broadcast scenario.

Mode Overview

ModeBehaviorUse Case
AUTOFully automatic playback following the scheduleUnattended broadcast
ASSISTAutomatic playback with manual override capabilitySemi-live shows
MANUALFull manual control over playbackLive DJ sets

AUTO Mode

In AUTO mode, the station follows the programmed schedule without intervention.

  • Tracks play continuously from the playlist queue
  • The next track starts automatically when the current track ends
  • Cross-fading between tracks uses the configured cue points
  • Schedule changes apply immediately

Use AUTO for overnight automation, pre-programmed shows, or unattended broadcasting.

ASSIST Mode

ASSIST mode cues each track automatically but waits for a manual start.

  • Tracks are cued automatically from the queue
  • The operator controls when each track begins
  • Operators can skip, pause, or insert tracks
  • Manual actions override automation temporarily

Fader Start: In ASSIST mode, pulling a track fader up from zero automatically starts playback. Pulling it back to zero pauses the track.

Use ASSIST for live shows with pre-planned content or shows where timing flexibility is needed.

MANUAL Mode

MANUAL mode gives the operator complete control over playback.

  • No automatic transitions between tracks
  • The operator starts, stops, and cues each track independently
  • Full control over timing and order

Fader Start: In MANUAL mode, the fader start feature works the same as in ASSIST mode.

Use MANUAL for live DJ performances, talk shows, or events requiring real-time decisions.

Switching Modes

The mode selector displays three buttons in the top bar (AUTO, ASSIST, MANUAL). Click the desired mode to switch. The change takes effect immediately without interrupting active playback.

The mode selector is disabled when the backup playlist is active.

Mode Indicators

The current mode is highlighted in the top bar. Other Studio users see the current mode in real-time.
